Today was a long day. Good parts, not so good parts, but overall, a success! I got up early to take a shower and get ready. I woke Tony up after I was done and we changed, fed, changed again, and dressed Anistynn. Everything was all clean and already packed previously, so we we just waited for my mom to pick us up. She got us to the airport a little after 8 AM. We had to check in at the airport (we couldnt online) because we had an infant with us. The guy checking us in was so nice! It's normally $20 for each checked bag, but he only charged us $20 total for 3 bags! We ended up checking Anistynn's Trunkie since we were carrying on a very heavy diaper bag and backpack, as well as her travel bed. We moved through security pretty quick but we had to have the formula checked individually (we brought an 8 pack of pre-made Similac formula, since it was easier to take on the flights instead of having to mix formula). Tony also had to have his hands swabbed for bomb residue since he was carrying Anistynn in a baby carrier wrapped around him. Haha! Good times. But everything checked out (as, of course, it would) and we arrived in plenty of time for our flight. We got to our gate and fed little miss. She fell asleep quite quickly and just hung out until we boarded. Tony and I had hot dogs from Good Dog / Bad Dog in the airport for breakfast - yes, at 9 AM. We left around 11 AM and landed in Denver just after 2 PM. Anistynn did great on her first flight. We had a bottle in her mouth during takeoff (to prevent potential headaches and earaches). She only cried when the loud voice came across the speaker from the airline stewardess. She got scared and cried for just a minute. Then she was fine and slept all the way through, even during landing. We had about an hour layover in Denver, but we didnt spend much time doing anything but trekking across the huge airport to our next gate. We left around 3 PM and arrived in Durango around 5 PM (and Colorado is an hour ahead of us). Anistynn did well on the second part as well, just sleeping peacefully. She even garnered comments fro other passengers on how adorable she was and how well she was doing especially with all these other babies on our flight that were screaming haha. At the end, we had some turbulence (which wasnt fun for mom and dad) but for baby girl, she didnt wake up at all. She even raised her arms over her head during the turbulence and kept them there, telling me that she may be a roller coaster junkie ;)
Tony's grandpa and dad picked us up (Anistynn's first time meeting her other grandpa!) and Tony I got loaded up in the car. His family is letting us borrow a car for our use while we are here and Tony's brother and his wife are lending us their son's infant car seat (he's now 2 1/2 years old). Anistynn knows it's not her car seat though and she let us know that haha. Tony, baby girl, and I went to Walmart to pick up diapers (we saved a lot of room by not packing diapers (only what was necessary for the flights in our diaper bag). Then we went to Ted and Irina's house (Tony's dad and step mom) and we got to visit with them, his grandpa, his brothers, his sister, his sister-in-law, and his nephew. TJ and Beth (Tony's brother and his wife) have a son named Kemper, who met Anistynn for the first time last night. It's his first cousin, as well as Anistynn's - they are each others only cousin on all sides of the family! He was cute - he touched her face, compared his foot to hers, and said her name so darling. He was quite distracted by the Christmas decorations and tree though. Ahh, the life of a 2 year old, I suppose.
So like I mentioned before, Anistynn has been on the go a lot lately and after a long day of traveling today, I think she hit her wall. She was crying a good portion of the time at her grandparent's house, and when we finally left after dinner to go to her great grandparent's house (where we're staying), she started crying a lot there too. It's just too much for a 3 month old little baby. We've got some things planned this week, so I can only hope that she'll be okay. For now, we are exhausted, so it's off to bed for us!
