I've caved.... I'm now on Twitter! It mainly started because I wanted to follow... yes, celebrities. It is indeed the closest you can hear from them personally. They dont have personal Facebook pages (only public ones) so Twitter seems to be the place for them. BUT I did set up a profile and I have shared 2 Tweets. Haha. It looks simple enough.... I'll use it for all my no nonsense updates on everything. If you want to follow me (you have to have an account to do so), click the link below OR click on FOLLOW @mrshermesman to the right, under my About Me section.
Let me know if you have one and I'll follow you too!
Lots of good baby stuff happening lately! Well, mostly. Here's the latest:
~ We'll get the embarrassing part out of the way first: Anistynn had her first major blow out!! It was all up her back... there was even some on her ears!! I had to position her just right so that I could clean up her and the pad (thank goodness for waterproof changing pads!!!) and right when I was almost done cleaning everything up, she peed everywhere, up to her elbows!! It was evident after that, that she needed a bath. So I got everything ready and scrubbed her good from head to toe. I got her dried, lotioned, and dressed, and then I cleaned up the pad and threw her outfit in the wash. It was crazy, but after that, I feel empowered! I did everything by myself (cleaning her up and giving her a bath for the first time by myself - usually Tony and I do that together). I'm getting the hang of this mommy thing!! ;)
~ On Friday, Anistynn rolled over for the first time! She was having tummy time and figured out to roll over from her tummy to her back. I caught a picture in mid-roll :) She can almost roll from her back to her tummy; she's super close... she gets all the way on her side but she just cant push over all the way yet.
~ On Friday, Anistynn and I also went out for a girls lunch with my friends, Dana and Lacey, and their daughters, Maddie and Laila. It was so fun!
~ On Friday evening, Tony, Anistynn, and I went to see Joyful Noise, which was actually a pretty cute movie.
~ Anistynn discovered herself in the mirror this past weekend for the first time on her own. She has a little play mat with a mirror attached and while playing, she caught a glimpse of herself and just kept staring. She eventually started talking and talking to her reflection - probably because it talked back!!! :)
~ On Sunday we went to church, went out to lunch with my parents, and then went and visited my grandparents. My grandma is getting worse with her memory so it's really important to me to go visit as often as I can. I know she loves seeing Anistynn and my Grandpa just adores it. It really makes their day. Please keep my grandparents in your prayers; my whole family would really appreciate it.
So that's what's been going on..... Today we had a little bit of a scare. Anistynn rolled off the couch!!! It's only about a foot and a half off the ground but we've been watching her all evening to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. It was ridiculous, it happened so fast. I set her next to me on the couch (laid her on her back) while I reached over to the end table to take a sip of my drink. I didnt even get off the couch. I saw a flash from the corner of my eye and she was on the ground on her tummy. I slammed my drink down and picked her up within seconds of her landing. She started crying so I just held her tight to me and walked around with her. She calmed down in a minute or so and then just cuddled with me. She seemed to be fine, but of course, as a mother, I was (and still am) worried to death. My sister, Lia, had an incident when she was little (as a lot of you know and remember) and so my mind always flashes to that. We called the pediatrician right away just to ask if there's anything we should look for in case something is wrong. They said that her crying right away was a good sign. She is still eating, smiling, talking, and moving as normal. She seems a little lethargic though. Tony says it's probably because she was startled and it's something that has never happened to her before. She has also spit up a couple times (more than her usual, which is very rarely, but not enough to be completely worried - she's still eating and keeping most everything down). So we'll just keep an eye on her for a while. You know I will and that I wont be able to sleep properly tonight. I'll always be checking on her! I guess this means no more leaving her ANYWHERE. Not that we really did before but especially now... She will always be in my arms, on the ground on her play mat, or in her bassinet or play yard. We just cant take any risks now that's moving and rolling so much.
I wanted to post a couple videos tonight, along with recent pictures. The first video is of her "telling us a story" while Valerie was in town. Th second is of her laughing out loud for the first time on video! It's soooo cute. What's really funny is that I was showing Josh and Lia that video on Sunday and Anistynn started laughing to herself laughing!!!! Crack. Me. Up. Seriously.
And pictures!
ROLLING OVER!!!
Lunch with the girls:
My friend, Dana, painted the picture of the giraffes below. It's supposed to resemble Anistynn and I. It was sooo sweet of her and she is so talented! It's now hanging proudly in Anistynn's nursery :)
I never imagined how hard it would be not to blog. I mean, I totally have the option (and in a way, it's been less stress to not blog every single day), but so much seems to happen that I want to share or inquire about and then it all builds up to make one huge blog when I finally have time to do it!
So let me catch you back up to date:
~ Anistynn attended her first double feature (Happy Feet 2 and Jack & Jill) on Friday the 13th no less, at the Mt Hood theater. She was great! She cried a little during the intermission but she was good after a diaper change :) She just watched and watched those movies. So cute.
~ Tony's aunt, Valerie, flew in from California to meet Anistynn and visit with us and my family. She stayed up at my parent's house (although she stayed with us the last night because of the snowfall up on their hill!) and we had a great weekend with her. We went to eat at Chang's and The Rock. We walked Hawthorne and picked up some fun gifts and books at Powell's. She gave us mini cupcakes from Bella Cupcake! We hung out at my parent's house and ate food and visited late into the evenings on a couple of occasions. And Tony and Valerie took Anistynn and went downtown Portland to take pictures for Tony's portfolio and to catch up and visit. I'm so glad Anistynn got to meet her "Honorary Grandma" (Valerie is Tony's mom's only sibling and she passed in 2009, never getting to meet Anistynn). We had such a fun time! Short but sweet :)
- One of the best moments during the weekend with Valerie was when Anistynn laughed!! She's laughed a couple times before, but both times I was holding her and didnt get to see, and it was only for a short time; a quick laugh. Well, we were at my parent's house and Anistynn had just woken up and been changed. Tony walked over with her to the table where we were all sitting and she looked around at each of us and then focused in on me... and just started laughing! And I mean, really laughing! Big belly laughs lasting forever. She kept going and going. I was in such shock and I didnt expect it at all, that I was just stunned for a moment - then I started crying!!! I had never seen her do that before and it was amazing. Gosh, I love that little girl.
~ Anistynn turned 4 months on the 16th and it came along with her first cold. She was all stuffy and sniffling but bless her heart, she kept smiling through it all :) She is such a sweet baby girl.
~ It snowed last night! It's melting today but I am so thankful for that moment. I love love love looking out the window and seeing the flakes falling. Such a warm feeling (even though it's cold snow) and it puts peace in my heart. Everything is so pure and serene when it snows.
~ Today was Anistynn's 4 month check up, which meant her second round of shots :( This mama is soooo nervous for things like that. I thought I was bad with going to the doctor but it turns out that I'm more nervous to take my baby there!! I've just got to toughen up so I can be strong for her. I got through a C-Section in order to have her arrive here as safely as possible; I can get through taking her to get her shots because I know its what's best and is wayyy better than having a sick baby. But still, it's not easy. She did really well though today... at least, so far. She was fine getting her stats all taken and she even started smiling and laughing at the doctor!! Crack me up! But when we had to put her down for her physical check up from the doctor, she started crying. It could have been because she was comfy in daddy's arms, I'm not sure. Then right when we got her calmed down, in came the nurse with the shots, of course. Anistynn took the oral one just fine, but cried her little eyes out when they poked. Twice. One in each leg. It's breaks this mama's heart to see her cry from something that hurt her and I know what it was that did it. She did well though, considering. As soon as we got her packed up in her car seat, she stopped crying and was almost asleep by the time we got to the car. I had to drop off Tony at Papa John's Pizza for his training (he picked up a side job in addition to his full time job as a warehouse manager). Anistynn was already asleep by the time he left. She's still asleep now, about an hour and a half later. Hopefully, she'll be okay.... Last time, she slept for about 4 hours afterward and then woke up screaming and crying. We gave her the correct dosage of Children's Tylenol and she cried for almost an hour. Then she fell asleep again and slept hard through the night. The next day she was lethargic, but fine. We'll see how tonight goes. We have a quiet day planned at home tomorrow, just her and I, so she'll have some recovery time.
Anistynn is now 25 1/2 inches long, 12 lbs, 14 oz, and her head is still growing nicely and on track to fit her huge brain ;)
Here's some more pictures, as I always have to share the latest:
I'm a very organized, outgoing, witty, random girl who loves to write. I got married to the love of my life in October 2010. We just had a baby girl in September 2011 and she is the sweetest thing EVER. We love you, Anistynn Grace! I am a pet sitter and I love what I do. I have a business called Danielle's Little Darlings, where I get to meet many lovable pets. My husband is a warehouse manager and a photographer. We are a silly couple totally in love with each other and I cant imagine my life without him as my partner in everything.
